Barrier-free Initiatives
Mizuho Bank has been promoting the Heartful Project since November 2005 with a view to becoming a bank that is easy for anyone to use regardless of age, gender or disability. Winning acclaim for its multifaceted barrier-free initiatives, MHBK received the following commendations from local governments in fiscal 2010.

Mizuho's Initiatives for Financial Crime Prevention
The steps taken by individual branches of MHBK to prevent remittance solicitation fraud have received high praise, and several branches were commended by the police during fiscal 2010. We shall continue to make every effort to prevent the damage caused by remittance solicitation fraud.

Received the Award by Metropolitan Police Department, Director General of Community Safety Bureau
On June 23, 2010, the MHBK Shinjuku-chuo Branch received the award by Metropolitan Police Department, Director General of Community Safety Bureau for preventing crime in the Shinjuku area and for other contributions.
Awarded an Excellent Prize of "Equality/Balance Promotion Company Commendation" by the Tokyo Labor Bureau
MHIR was awarded an excellent prize of "equality/balance promotion company" (family friendly company section) in FY2010 by the Tokyo labor bureau in October 12, 2010.
MHIR wrestles for maintenance of the office environment including the common knowledge of child care leave, family care leave, and shortened work hours due to child care systems. And it offers the place of the communication to child care leave employees, in which there were many users. These are evaluated.

Received the 2011 J-Win Diversity Award
On March 9, 2011, MHSC received the 2011 J-Win Diversity Award from the NPO Japan Women's Innovative Network (J-Win), which supports diversity management. MHSC was appraised on the points of its top-down diversity initiatives, and for its focus on increasing the awareness of management and female employees.
Inclusion in SRI Indexes
In recent years, in the area of portfolio management strategy, Socially Responsible Investment*1, which takes into consideration not only financial evaluations of outlooks for corporate earnings and growth but also ethics, observance of laws, and approaches to environmental problems, has been attracting a great deal of attention.
Mizuho's CSR initiatives have received high evaluations from domestic and overseas SRI rating agencies, and, as of February 28, 2011, MHFG has been included in three SRI indexes: the FTSE4Good Global 100 Index*2, Ethibel Sustainability Index Excellence Global*3 and the Morningstar Socially Responsible Investment Index*4.
