TENOHASI (2010)

TENOHASI was founded in 2003 with the mission of offering support to enable indigent people, including the homeless, to avoid isolation and build relationships of trust with others. The organization provides services including meal provision, health consultation, social welfare consultation, acupuncture massage care and night patrols, principally in Toshima Ward, Tokyo. Money from the fund was used to purchase items including thermally insulated containers for use in the distribution of meals to remote places.

"Relay for Life" in Japan held in Tokyo 2010 (2010)

The "Relay for Life" in Japan is an event held to raise money for the fight against cancer. Event supporters and members of the general public, including cancer patients and relatives of cancer patients, engage in a 24-hour walking relay that promotes understanding of the state of progress in the battle against cancer and deepens bonds among participants. At the time of the event, activities to promote awareness of cancer prevention measures and to increase cancer screening are conducted. The event has been held in locations across Japan since the first "Relay for Life" in Japan was held in 2006 in Tsukuba (Ibaraki Prefecture). In 2010, an event held in October at Shiokaze Park in Odaiba in Tokyo drew 3,000 participants. Money from the fund was used for operating expenses for the event.

Child Fund Japan (2010)

Since 1975, ChildFund Japan has engaged in activities, primarily in Asian countries, to support the healthy growth of children living in poverty and the self-reliance of families and communities. It conducts a sponsorship program to enable children to attend a school in which supporters from Japan become sponsors (foster parents) of children from indigent families in Asia. Since many children in the Philippines lack the opportunity to read good books, ChildFund Japan conducts The Reading Program‐Improving Learning Outcomens by Encouraging Book Friendly Schools‐.
Money from the fund was used to purchase reference books (dictionaries, encyclopedias and science picture books) for distribution to the children's schools.
