Donations for Victims of Natural Disasters in FY2016

Earthquake in Central Italy

Mizuho Financial Group made a donation of JPY 500,000 to the Embassy of Italy from the Mizuho Charity Fund to support victims and the recovery efforts in the wake of the earthquake that struck Central Italy in September 2016.

In addition, Mizuho Bank made a donation of JPY 5,000,000 to the Italian Red Cross.

The 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake

Mizuho Financial Group made donations of JPY 30 million plus contributions of JPY 5,261,087 from the management, officers and employees and the Mizuho Charity Fund to the Japanese Red Cross Society, to support victims and the recovery efforts in the wake of the earthquake that struck the Kumamoto provinces in Japan in April 2016.

Donations for Victims of Natural Disasters in FY2015

Earthquake in Taiwan

Mizuho Financial Group made a donation of JPY 500,000 to the Japanese Red Cross Society from the Mizuho Charity Fund, to support victims and the recovery efforts in the wake of the earthquake that struck the Taiwan in February 2016.

In addition, the Kaohsiung Branch of Mizuho Bank made a donation of TWD 1,250,000 (approximately JPY 4,500,000) to Tainan City Government Bureau of Social Affairs.

Furthermore, the employees of the three branches in Taiwan (Kaohsiung Branch, Taichung Branch and Taipei Branch) made a donation of approximately TWD 790,000 in total (approximately JPY 2,750,000) to the same Bureau.

Earthquake in Afghanistan and Pakistan

Mizuho Financial Group made a donation of JPY 500,000 to the Japan Platform from the Mizuho Charity Fund, to support victims and the recovery efforts in the wake of the earthquake that struck the Islamic Republic of Afghan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in January 2016.

Flood Victims in Southern India

Mizuho Financial Group made a donation of JPY 500,000 to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund (CMPRF) maintained by Government of Tamil Nadu in India from the Mizuho Charity Fund to support victims and the recovery efforts in the wake of the flooding which occurred in Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu located in southern India in December 2015.

In addition, the Chennai Branch of Mizuho Bank made a donation of INR 500,000 (approximately JPY 970,000) to the same Fund (CMPRF).

Flood Victims in Republic of the Union of Myanmar

Mizuho Financial Group made a donation of JPY 500,000 to the Japan Association for the World Food Programme from the Mizuho Charity Fund to support victims and the recovery efforts in the wake of the flooding which occurred in Republic of the Union of Myanmar in July 2015.

In addition, Mizuho Bank made a donation of USD 20,000 to Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement through Central Bank of Myanmar.

Earthquake in the Republic of Nepal

Mizuho Financial Group made donations totaling JPY 1,000,000 to the Japan Platform (JPY 500,000) and the Japan Association for the World Food Programme (JPY 500,000) from the Mizuho Charity Fund, to support victims and the recovery efforts in the wake of the earthquake that struck the Republic of Nepal in April 2015.

Supporting the Recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake

Mizuho is continuing its initiatives to support recovery in the regions stricken by the Great East Japan Earthquake by engaging in various social contribution activities.
