Environmental Promotion Framework
To offer financial products and services related to the climate change issue and biodiversity and to reduce the environmental burden from business activities with efforts from the entire group, Mizuho has positioned "Environmental initiatives" as CSR priority areas to address over the medium–to–long term and promotes and manages them in the CSR Promotion Structure.
Because the content of the environmental initiatives is diverse, the Environmental Issues Committee is in place in MHFG as a place to report the progression of the measures taken and discuss the policies of each initiative. To disseminate the measures and exchange information and opinions among group companies, an Environmental Issues Subcommittee and Environmental Business Skill Practice are regularly convened for the 11 key group companies*. Individual working groups under specific themes (such as reduction of greenhouse gas and green purchasing) with concrete targets are convened if necessary.
Each key group company has its own Environmental Issues Committee and CSR Managers and environmental managers monitor the progression of the promotion and target achievements. Depending on the content of the environmental issues, some Group companies collaborate to address the issues.
