Mizuho's Eco–Action Declaration

In fiscal 2012, 50,940 employees pledged participation in office and household electricity saving activities through the Mizuho's Eco–Action Declaration, and Mizuho donated 2,547 seedlings in total to greenery promotion areas including the Coastal forest restoration project*1 at the disaster–stricken areas in Natori city, Miyagi prefecture, the "Osaka Green Promotion Area*2" in Osaka prefecture, and through group company branches to local schools and facilities.

  • *1The ten–years project to support seedling farmers and their raising seedlings toward the coastal forest restoration in the tsunami disaster–hit area of Natori city, Miyagi prefecture.
  • *2The Greenery Area through the combined efforts of the government and the private sector in Osaka prefecture toward creating green and mitigating the heat island effect.

Volunteers for Forestry Activities

With the object of preventing global warming and helping preserve biodiversity, Mizuho implements Forest creation activities by planting and thinning the forests.

In the Tokyo's Umi–no–Mori, Sea Forest project, 119 of Mizuho employees and their families volunteered to plant near the 1,000 saplings in total.

Since fiscal 2007, Mizuho employees have also been taking part in Tokyo Greenship Action, a Tokyo Metropolitan Government forest management program, thinning trees and clearing underbrush to conservation and creation of forests. In fiscal 2012, 26 Mizuho employees and their families volunteered forest conservation activities for thinning trees, cleaning underbrush and planting in Ome Kaminariki Forest environment conservation area, Ome city, Tokyo

Eco–cooking

As an environmental study, 42 of Mizuho employees and their families participated in the Eco–cooking*. Through cooking practice, they studied how to use energy ecology friendly and reduce garbage.
