Initiatives for the Equator Principles
The Equator Principles are frameworks to confirm that project finance transactions totaling USD 10 million or more take environmental and social risk impacts into consideration.
In October 2003, MHCB became the first Asian bank to adopt the Equator Principles. In July 2006, the Equator Principles were revised and MHCB readopted them.
On June 7, 2007, MHCB was presented the 2007 Chairman's Award of the Sustainable Banking Awards sponsored by the Financial Times in association with the IFC. Mizuho Corporate Bank now plays a leadership role as a member of the Equator Principles Association Steering Committee, which consists of 14 banks worldwide.
